Coking ball valves
Review isolation requirements with the coke, residue and operating cycle in view.

Concept illustration; not a certified technical drawing or a confirmed supplied configuration.
Start with the duty.
Review isolation requirements with the coke, residue and operating cycle in view.
- Coke deposits and residue-management needs
- Drum sequence and thermal cycling
- Purge arrangements and maintenance access
Build a complete enquiry.
Process conditions
Provide the medium, temperature and pressure envelope, solids content and operating sequence.
Mechanical interfaces
State nominal size, connection standard, installation orientation and available space.
Acceptance & actuation
Define shut-off criteria, actuator requirements, fail position and project documentation.
Pressure class, size range, materials, performance and certifications are confirmed only for the agreed configuration. No general application guide establishes product suitability.
Understand the application.
Use the application centre to prepare service-specific questions for your enquiry.
Coking ball valves: procurement questions
What makes a coking ball valve enquiry different?
Include the drum operating sequence, coke and residue exposure, thermal cycling, purge arrangements and isolation requirement at each stage.
What maintenance information should be provided?
Describe inspection access, planned service intervals, available purge utilities and any existing deposit or operating-torque problems.
Can an existing valve datasheet be used for a quotation?
Yes. Include the datasheet with your service description, and identify any requirements that have changed. The proposed configuration still requires a duty-specific review.
Prepare a service-specific RFQ.
Use the valve selection guide to define the process, mechanical interfaces and acceptance criteria.
Industrial valve selection & RFQ guide →For process background, review the Delayed coking valve application guide →. Suitability must be confirmed for the proposed valve configuration.
