Gasification & abrasive slurry valve applications
Feedstock, slurry and syngas duties require a clear description of each phase and its effect on valve operation.
The application
Gasification converts carbon-containing feedstocks into synthesis gas. Valves can encounter very different conditions across feed preparation, solids handling and gas processing. In multiphase service, particles may cause erosion, blockage or accumulation inside the valve.
What makes the duty demanding
- Erosion from solid particles
- Plugging and trapped material
- Difficult operation with changing phase composition
Selection focus
Assess flow path, cavity behaviour and wear exposure using the actual mixture. Review flushing and maintenance access with the process team.
