Oxygen service valve requirements
Oxygen duty requires a dedicated review of materials, cleanliness and the valve’s intended conditions.
The application
Oxygen service requires more than a general-purpose material selection. EIGA guidance addresses valve design, material compatibility, cleaning and quality control for liquid oxygen and cold gaseous oxygen systems. Contamination can introduce ignition hazards.
What makes the duty demanding
- Incompatible materials under oxygen exposure
- Contamination during assembly or handling
- Loss of cleanliness before installation
Selection focus
Use a qualified oxygen-service review and an agreed cleanliness procedure. Confirm the scope of applicable guidance; a cryogenic rating alone does not qualify a valve for oxygen.
