Ethylene cracking & decoking valve applications
Transfer-line and decoking duties combine elevated temperature with changing media and particulate exposure.
The application
Ethylene furnace systems alternate between production and decoking. Transfer-line isolation must be reviewed for hot process gas, coke particles and the conditions encountered during cleaning. A valve description alone does not establish its suitability for this sequence.
What makes the duty demanding
- Particle erosion and internal deposits
- Thermal movement at sealing interfaces
- Failure to complete the required operating sequence
Selection focus
Review materials, seating, purge provisions and actuation against both production and decoking conditions. Define the isolation requirement at each stage.
